What to Bring To Your First Day Of College

Getting ready for college is an incredibly exciting time in any young person’s life, but there’s also a whole lot of preparation that goes with it.

Sometimes it can be difficult to remember everything that you’re supposed to bring when moving in.

Just remember: no matter how well prepared you are, there is always room for creativity when packing!

Starting college is an exciting time as you are finally leaving home and moving out of the house. A college is also a place where you are going to be meeting lots of new people and starting many new relationships.

Although you will be spending many hours with your new friends, it’s important that you’re comfortable at college too.

How to Pack and What to Bring

The first thing you need to do is to find a storage solution for all of your stuff.

Whether that be a closet, a chest of drawers, or even more suitcases! It’s very easy to overpack for college, so it’s important that you only bring what is absolutely necessary. Although you will have access to laundry facilities, you’ll also want to keep your room as neat and tidy as possible.

You will most likely have your own room at the college, which is great, but it’s important that you know how much space you’re going to have in your room before deciding what to bring.

Here are a few essentials you should be considering.

A Laptop

Laptops are smaller than desktop computers, and this makes them the perfect size bring with you.

The type of laptop you choose is really up to you, but consider how you’ll be using it- if you’re a computer science major and need to use your laptop for assignments, then it will be beneficial to bring a laptop with a large screen size.

Alternatively, if you’re a media student, then a smaller screen size may suit your needs better.

A Desk Lamp

You want to be able to see when doing work in your room unless you like working in the dark!

If you decide to bring along a lamp, make sure that it has an adjustable base so that it can easily fit on top of your desk or even on the floor in front of your bed!

A Journal

It’s important that you don’t forget to write down your thoughts and ideas.

You don’t have to bring a very big journal, something heavy enough will do just fine!

You can also consider taking a notepad with you and jotting down notes throughout the day that way. It will be easier for you to see all of your ideas at once.
